This Privacy Policy explains how Jollof (“Jollof”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use jollof.dev and the pages on that site, including /privacy, /terms, and /100 (together, the “Site”).
The Site is a public website. It is not the Jollof Code product. If you later receive access to Jollof Code or another Jollof service, that service may have its own notice.
By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or send us a form.
Who we are
Jollof operates the Site at jollof.dev. Jollof Code is our software product. This policy is about the Site, not a signed-in product account.
We do not publish a public email address. To reach us, write through the form on the homepage.
Information we collect
You can read the Site without giving us your name. We collect personal information only when you choose to send it, and some technical information that arrives with a normal web request.
If you write to us on the homepage, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The message you send, including the idea you asked us to build
If you apply on Jollof 100, we collect:
- First name and last name
- Email address
- Country and city
- GitHub username, if you give one
- What you are building, why you want Jollof 100, your primary language, and how often you could use Jollof
- Whether you said you will use Jollof and give feedback
We do not run a third-party advertising or analytics pixel on the Site. We do not collect a profile picture, payment card, or government ID on the Site.
When you load a page, our hosting provider may record technical logs. Those logs can include your IP address, browser type, device type, the page requested, the time of the request, and a referrer URL. We use that only to run and protect the Site.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Read and answer the message you sent
- Review a Jollof 100 application
- Keep the Site working, secure, and available
- Understand and fix errors
- Keep a record of what you asked us, so we can continue the conversation
- Comply with law, or respond to a valid legal request
We do not use your information to build an advertising profile. We do not buy marketing lists. We do not send you newsletters unless you asked us to write back, and a reply to your own message is not a newsletter.
Your ideas
The idea or sentence you type is yours. Sending it through a form does not give Jollof ownership of that idea. We keep a copy so we can answer you. We do not treat an inbound note as an assignment of intellectual property.
Do not send us someone else’s private information, secrets you are not allowed to share, or material you do not have the right to send.
How long we keep it
We keep a homepage message or a Jollof 100 application for as long as we need it to answer you, review the application, or keep a record of the conversation. We keep it longer if the law requires it, or if we need it to resolve a dispute or protect the Site.
Hosting logs are kept for a short operational period set by the host, then discarded in the ordinary course.
If you ask us to delete what we hold about you, we will delete what we can delete. We may keep a minimal record that the request was made, or information the law says we must keep.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Write through the form on the homepage and say what you want us to do. Use the same email you used before, if you can, so we can find the right record.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to restrict or object to certain processing, to receive a copy of your information, or to complain to a data protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for asking.
If you are in California: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may still ask us what we have collected and ask us to delete it, using the homepage form.
We may need to confirm it is you before we change or delete a record. If we cannot find you, or the law blocks the request, we will say so.
Where information is processed
The Site is served from infrastructure that may be outside the country you are in. If you send a form, your information may be stored or processed in another country. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your own.
By using the Site or sending a form, you understand that this transfer can happen so we can receive and answer you.
Children
The Site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child sent us a form, write to us on the homepage and we will delete what we can.
Links and demonstrations
The Site may show demonstration software, mock products, or links to other sites. Those surfaces may be operated by someone else. Their privacy practices are theirs. This policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
We may change this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. The new version applies when it is posted. If a change is material, we will also try to make it obvious on the Site.
